Youth Programs Coordinator
Under the direction of the Operations Manager, provides leadership and administration of the youth programs provided by the National Alliance on Mental Illness – San Fernando Valley (NAMISFV).
- Contact colleges, high schools and middle schools (psychologists, counselors
and or administration) to introduce Mental Health First Aid (MHFA), YouthMental Health First Aid (YMHFA), Ending the Silence (ETS) and NAMI onCampus for consideration of these programs
- Recruit ETS presenters and schedule their trainings
Schedule ETS presentations and MHFA/YMHFA classes to includepresenters/teachers and venues
Advertise ETS presentations and MHFA/YMHFA classes to schools’ staff,student body, parents and community
Manage class registrations and communicate with student participantsconfirming attendance and class information
- Work with school faculty advisor to develop NAMI on Campus
- Oversee NAMI on Campus sustainability
ETS Presentation and MHFA/YMHFA Class Implementation
- Coordinate setup of venues to include delivery of snacks/lunches
- Coordinate distribution and collection of pre and posttests/evaluations
- Submit pre and posttest/evaluations to SFV Education Coordinator
Applicants for this position should bring the following knowledge, abilities, and
Knowledge, passion and commitment to work collaboratively in support ofthe mission of NAMI which is dedicated to reducing the impact of mentalillness on individuals, families and communities.
Over 2 years of consecutive management experience working in any of thefollowing fields: advocacy, outreach, public education.
Strong oral and written communication skills.
Ability and interest to work with a range of organizations and institutionsincluding schools and religious congregations. Demonstrated experiencepreferred.
A Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience is required; higher degree in arelated field is preferred
$50/month cell phone contribution
$250/month health insurance contribution
Mileage while at work
This 32 hour/week position will be based out of Chatsworth and will require a
flexible schedule including evening and possible weekend work time. Applicants
will be reimbursed for mileage, but must have a reliable car and be able to drive in
